Fumigation for Wood Boring Insects | Wood Boring Insect Exterminator

Wood Boring Insect Control in Your Home

Keep your home’s frame safe.

How to Protect Against Wood Boring Insects

The most prevalent wood-boring insects are powder post beetles and old house borers, but there are other wood boring insects. Home inspectors and homeowners both know that once you have them, the damage they can do can be very costly. Keeping firewood far away from your home and only bringing in the ones you are going to burn soon will help keep them out. Make sure not to store firewood against the exterior of your home. Always check any firewood you’re buying for exit holes that could mean it is already infested.

Even though wood-boring insects don’t necessarily have an impact on health, they can do extensive damage to your building’s structure rather quickly. The eggs they lay in the crevices of the wood are what will eat their way out once they hatch, so it’s hard to know you have them until they have already bored holes in the wood. Those holes can weaken the wood and therefore the structure itself.

  • Hatched eggs bore exit holes in wood
  • May not know you have a problem until you see costly damage

Why Western Fumigation?

Should the wood in your home show signs of wood-boring insects, Western Fumigation will wrap the entire home in a gas-tight tent and fumigate inside. It takes about two to three days and is 99.99% effective in taking care of every wood-boring insect within the structure – including the eggs. Since it’s difficult to know if you have a problem until the damage is extensive enough to see, having any wood you’re using to build a new home fumigated before you start using it is best.
